15-5 PH, also known as UNS S15500 or XM-12, is a martensitic, precipitation-hardening stainless steel. It is highly valued for its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Containing approximately 15% Chromium and 5% Nickel, its strength can be further enhanced by a single low-temperature heat treatment.
Compared to 17-4 PH, 15-5 PH offers superior transverse toughness and ductility, better mechanical properties in larger cross-sections, and enhanced forgeability. It is readily weldable and can be machined in various thermal conditions.
